Job Description

Our Interim Kids Ministry Director provides leadership and oversight for Good Shepherd’s Kids Ministry. This role focuses on ensuring the ministry continues to operate smoothly, Servant Leaders are supported and equipped, and children and families experience a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment. 

This individual will prioritize stability and strong support for Servant Leaders while maintaining the ministry’s existing systems and rhythms. The right candidate is organized, relational, and passionate about helping children grow in their faith while creating a warm and inviting ministry environment for families. 

• Part-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Position

• $16.90/hour, 4–8 hours per week

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for children during designated services and events

• Engage children in age-appropriate activities, play, and simple lessons or crafts as needed

• Monitor children closely at all times and never leave children unattended

• Respond calmly and appropriately to childcare needs

• Assist with setup and breakdown of childcare rooms before and after events

Safety & Supervision

• Follow all church child safety policies, including background check and mandatory reporting requirements

• Follow all check-in and check-out procedures without exception; no child is released to anyone other than the authorized parent or guardian

• Report any incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to the Kids Ministry Director promptly

• Maintain confidentiality regarding any family or child-related concerns

Family Communication

• Greet parents and guardians at drop-off and give a brief update at pick-up, including how the child did and any incidents

• Communicate respectfully and clearly with parents regarding their child’s time in care

• Communicate promptly with the Kids Ministry Director regarding scheduling conflicts, supply needs, or concerns

Scheduling & Availability

• The Table gatherings—as scheduled Sundays from 11:15am to 2:00pm

• All Generations Journey Group gatherings—as scheduled Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm to 8:00pm

• MomCo meeting days and times—2nd Saturdays of each month from 8:45am to 10:30am

• Additional church events as scheduled, including evenings and weekends as needed

• Confirm availability in advance for scheduled events and notify the Kids Ministry Director as early as possible if unable to attend

• Complete the full duration of the assigned event, including cleanup

Organizational Structure

• Reports to the Kids Ministry Director

• Works alongside other Kids Care Team Members and ministry servant leaders (volunteers)

• Supports the broader kid's and family ministry of Good Shepherd

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Experience working with children; babysitting, teaching, nannying, or ministry experience preferred

• Ability to pass a background check

• Warm, patient, and dependable demeanor

• Strong communication skills with both children and parents

• Treats every child with patience, kindness, and respect, regardless of behavior challenges

• Models Christ-like character in tone, language, and actions at all times

Female Youth Ministry Associate

Job Description

Good Shepherd is seeking a Youth Ministry Associate to help cultivate a youth ministry that nurtures and plants seeds leading to resilient disciples. This individual will invest in Junior High, Confirmation, and High School students through discipleship, mentorship, and meaningful connection with students and their parents.

The right candidate is relationally driven and spiritually grounded, with a heart for students and a gift for creating environments where young people encounter and learn about the way of Jesus. This role carries focused responsibility for the spiritual formation and support of female students, and works alongside staff, volunteers, and families to build a ministry marked by trust, consistency, and care.

• Part-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Position

• $23–26/hour, 15–20 hours per week

Essential Responsibilities

• Build meaningful, appropriate relationships with Junior High, Confirmation, and High School students

• Disciple and mentor students, with focused responsibility for the spiritual formation and support of female students

• Lead or facilitate female small groups, Bible studies, prayer, and age-appropriate discipleship conversations in Junior and High School Sunday programming

• Assist with prepping for Sunday youth programming, including curriculum, supplies, room setup, activities, and follow-up

• Welcome and follow up with new or less-connected students and connect them to the life of the church

• Collaborate with the Communications Director for the creation, scheduling, and promotion of social media content and other marketing initiatives

Ministry Events

• Attend a 3-day Winter Camp in January

• Assist in creating quarterly serve opportunities and community-building events, from planning through completion

• Participate in church-wide community-building events and complete responsibilities as scheduled

• Assist in mid-week evening programming as needed

• Assist in the organization of and attend the annual Confirmation banquet

Family & Servant Leader Support

• Develop positive relationships with congregation members to assist with ministry needs

• Help recruit, schedule, orient, equip, and encourage adult servant leaders and student leaders

• Support family ministry events, intergenerational opportunities, and appropriate church-wide events

Administrative & Team Support

• Maintain registrations, attendance, ministry records, calendars, schedules, receipts, and supply requests

• Collaborate with the Communications Director for the creation, scheduling, and promotion of social media content and other marketing initiatives

• Follow church policies for safeguarding, reporting, confidentiality, and healthy relational boundaries

• Collaborate with staff and ministry leaders and attend relevant meetings, training, and planning sessions as assigned

Organizational Structure

• Reports to the Youth Director

• Works closely with youth ministry staff, adult servant leaders, and student servant leaders

• Collaborates with the broader church staff team and ministry leaders as needed

• Supports the family and youth ministry of Good Shepherd

Qualifications

• A growing personal faith in Jesus and alignment with the mission and values of the church.

• 2+ years' experience working with or mentoring middle and high school students in a ministry, camp, school, or similar setting

• Ability to build appropriate, trust-based relationships with students, parents, and volunteers

• Strong communication and organizational skills, including comfort with social media and basic administration

• Availability for Sunday programming (morning and evening), select mid-week evenings, and key events including Winter Camp

• Dependable, coachable, and able to work collaboratively as part of a staff team

• Must pass a background check and complete required safeguarding training

Choir Director

Job Description

The Choir Director provides weekly direction to the Good Shepherd Servant Leader (volunteer) Chancel Choir in support of our Traditional Worship Service. This role is responsible for recruiting and developing choir members, selecting music that aligns with a worship setting and the Pastor's message, and creating a worshipful, well-organized choral program. The Choir Director works closely with the Senior Pastor and Worship Planning Team to deliver a meaningful and transformative Traditional Worship experience.

• Part-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Position 

• $32–35/hour, up to 8 hours per week

Essential Responsibilities

• Direct the Chancel Choir during weekly rehearsals and Traditional Worship Services

• Coordinate hymn and anthem selection with the Senior Pastor in alignment with the sermon focus

• Recruit and assimilate new Chancel Choir members

• Maintain and organize the music library and database

• Collaborate with the Worship Planning Team on Christmas and Holy Week services

• Coordinate with the Tech Team to support a cohesive and transformative worship experience

Worship & Music Collaboration

• Coordinate hymn selection with the Senior Pastor and Organist/Piano Accompanist

• Develop music direction in alignment with Lutheran traditions and liturgy

• Select anthems that align with the sermon focus or create a worshipful environment for the congregation

• Support the design of Christmas and Holy Week Traditional Worship Services alongside the Worship Planning Team

Servant Leader Recruitment & Care

• Actively recruit new Chancel Choir members and conduct auditions

• Guide new recruits through an assimilation period to set them up for success

• Communicate regularly with and schedule Chancel Choir members as needed

• Coordinate two social events per year to encourage community among the choir

Worship Development

• Coach and guide Chancel Choir members during weekly rehearsals

• Identify and develop vocalists as needs arise

• Receive and apply coaching from the Worship Planning Team and Leadership Team

Worship Administration

• Ensure each Chancel Choir member has printed music as needed

• Maintain and organize the music library and database

• Prepare rehearsal space with seating arrangements, music, and teaching aids

• Arrange a substitute director as necessary

• Submit annual budget requirements for the music program

• Collaborate with the Tech Team to create a cohesive worship experience

Scheduling & Availability

• Provide leadership weekly for Sunday Morning Worship and Thursday Evening Choir Rehearsals

• Attend All Staff Meetings on the first Tuesday of each month

• Attend Thursday afternoon Worship Alignment Meetings

• Coordinate with the Worship Planning Team regarding planned absences

• Collaborate to ensure coverage is arranged when unavailable

• Support with Holy Week, Christmas Eve Services, and the occasional Saturday Memorial Service

Organizational Structure

• Works closely with the Senior Pastor and Organist/Piano Accompanist

• Collaborates with the Senior Pastor and Creative Director as needed

• Supports the broader worship ministry of Good Shepherd

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of choral experience, ideally in a church setting of 200+ congregants

• Experienced in recruiting and leading vocalists

• Organized and administratively inclined

• Confident communicator and collaborative team player

• Proactive, teachable, and servant-hearted leader

• Ability to collaborate effectively with worship leaders and Servant Leaders

• Dependable, punctual, and well-prepared

• Heart for worship and alignment with the mission of the church
