Journey Groups
God never intended for us to row alone. Journey Groups are small communities that walk together through spiritual practices—learning to slow down and follow Jesus one practice at a time.
What are Journey groups?
Get in the raft. You were never meant to row alone.
Every river has a beginning and an end, but no two stretches of the journey look the same. There are seasons of calm and seasons of rapids—moments when the current is gentle, and moments when it feels like you're headed over a waterfall. Some people climb into the raft at the very start. Others get in much later. Wherever you are, and whatever season you're in, there is a place for you.
Journey Groups are communities of 8–12 people who gather weekly to practice the way of Jesus together. Each season centers on one spiritual practice with a guide that walks your group through it week by week. You'll open Scripture together, pray for one another, and carry the practice into your ordinary life between gatherings.
This isn't one more thing on your calendar. It's an invitation to be renewed by the only source of living water that never runs dry.
Our first session begins September 2026.
FAQs
-
Our first groups launch in September. Groups meet weekly for twelve months as they move through the six spiritual practices together.
-
Each group is made up of 8–12 people. Small enough that everyone has a voice, big enough that the conversation stays engaging.
-
Most Journey Groups meet in homes throughout Irvine and beyond, on various nights of the week. Some groups meet on our church campus by request—contact the church office at churchoffice@gslcirvine.org to learn more.
-
Journey Groups ask for a twelve-month commitment. That's longer than most groups, and it's intentional—spiritual formation doesn't happen in a few weeks. It happens through consistent practice, in the company of people who know you. You'll gather weekly and carry the practice into your everyday life in between.
-
Each season focuses on one spiritual practice. You will receive a guide that walks you through it week by week—Scripture to read, a practice to try, and questions to talk through together. Your facilitator will keep the conversation moving, but there's no homework to turn in and no test at the end.
